The Lagorai trek

Stage 1
Departure point at Passo Manghen (2,047 metres a.s.l.), only reachable by own means of transport or taxi.
Take the mountain trail nr. 322 that leads to Forcella del Frate (2,228 m) and follow it along the mountainside, walking past Forcella Ziolera (2,232 m) and Forcella Pala del Becco (2,245 m), then make your way down along track nr. 322/B to Lake Montalon.
Here change to trail nr. 362 and climb up to Forcella di Montalon (2,133 m) where you can take path nr. 322 that runs above Lake Stellune and then nr. 317 to finally reach Forcella Valmoena (2,294 m). Drinking water available above Lake Stellune. From Forcella Valmoena follow path nr. 321 that leads to Forcella La Busa della Neve (2,367 m), then keep to the same track past Forcella Buse dall’Or (2,468 m) and finally reach Forcella Lagorai (2,372 m).
Here you can either plant your tent for the night or descend to the Lagorai lakes, following trail nr. 316, where you can stock up on more water..

Stage 2
Leave Forcella Lagorai (2,372 metres a.s.l.) behind and follow track nr. 321 up to Forcella delle Sute (2,520 m), then continue towards Forcella di Coppola (2,533 m) keeping more or less on the ridge until you reach Cima Litegosa (2,548 m). Move down to Passo Litegosa (2,261 m) and proceed along path nr. 321, past the base of Pilastro del Frate, until you get to Passo Sadole (2,066 m). Here take trail nr. 320 down to Rifugio Cauriol (1,600 m).
You can either spend the night in your tent at Pian delle Maddalene or sleep more comfortably at Rifugio Cauriol, Phone nr. +39 337-230202 or 348-5161123
Open from June to mid-October.

- Altitude difference uphill: 610 metres

If you wish (and have time), from Passo Sadole you can climb along the Via Italiana (2,066 metres a.s.l.) up to the peak of Monte Cauriol (2,494 m). On the way down from Forcella Cauriol (2,368 m) you can take the Via Austriaca until it joins the path nr. 320 that leads back to Rifugio Cauriol.

- Altitude difference uphill: 430 metres
Stage 3
Departure from Rifugio Cauriol (1,600 metres a.s.l.) along path nr. 349 to reach Forcella Cadinon (2,300 m). Proceed along trail nr. 339 down to Forcella Coldosè (2,182 m) then take paths nr. 339 + 349 until you reach Lake Brutto (2,207 m) and Forcella Coltorondo (2,397 m). Follow trail nr. 349 down to Bivacco Paolo & Nicola, located at the Forcella di Valmaggiore (2,180 m).
You can spend the night at the bivouac (8-10 beds).
Drinking water available nearby.

If you wish, you can continue along path nr. 349 up to Forcella di Cece (2,393 metres a.s.l.) and across Cima di Valbona (2,349 m) until you reach the Bivacco Aldo Moro, located at the top of Cima di Bragarolo (2,565 m).
The bivouac has 9 beds.
Walking time: 3-4 hours (from Bivacco Paolo & Nicola to Bivacco Aldo Moro)
Dislivello in salita: 840 metres (from Bivacco Paolo & Nicola to Bivacco Aldo Moro)
Stage 4
From Bivacco Aldo Moro, follow trail nr. 349 to Forcella Ceremana (2,428 metres a.s.l.) then proceed around Cima del Colbricon and descend to Passo di Colbricon (1,908 m); keep walking along path nr. 349 until you reach Rifugio Colbricon (1,927 m) (refreshments only).
From here you have two choices:
- A. from Bivacco Paolo & Nicola you can take path nr. 348 and reach Malga Rolle. Trek arrival point and local bus stop.

- B. from Bivacco Aldo Moro, walk to Rifugio Colbricon and proceed up to Cima Cavallazza (2,324 m). Then traverse down to the Tognazza chair lift (2,209 m) and descend along the skiing slope, down to Passo Rolle (altitude?). Trek arrival point and local bus stop.
- Walking time required for route A: 7-8 hours
- Altitude difference uphill for route A: 940 metres
- Walking time required for route B: 6-7 hours
- Altitude difference uphill for route B: 600 metres
POSSIBLE RETURN ROUTES IN CASE OF TROUBLE OR BAD WEATHER:
- STAGE 1
Walking time: 3-4 hours
Alternatively, take paths nr. 316 + 353 and proceed past the Forcella del Macaco and the Bombasel Lakes to reach Paion del Cermis. From there, take the lift facilities down to Cavalese.
Walking time: 2 hours

From July 1st to mid-September
8.30 to 12.00 and 14.00 to 17.30
- STAGE 2
From Rifugio Cauriol take the dirt road that crosses the Val di Sadole to reach the town of Ziano.
Walking time: 3 hours
- STAGE 3From Bivacco Paolo & Nicola descend along path nr. 335 to Malga Valmaggiore (1,600 metres a.s.l.) (refreshments only), then follow the dirt road that leads to the town of Predazzo.
Walking time: 6-7 hours
