In the woods of Val di Fiemme

Walking along the several forestry roads, you can easily find mushrooms almost without walking through spruces and larches. Who wants to venture and look for mushrooms, needs to know all the rules in order to protect the environment. Visit the mycology help desks in Predazzo, Cavalese and Tesero.

Picking up mushrooms near a waterfall and a monumental tree
MASI DI CAVALESE - SALANZADA – WATERFALL OF CAVALESE - MASI: From the church of Masi di Cavalese walk uphill towards Marzelin, then take the paved road to the large meadow, where lies the farm of Salanzada, a great place for a tasteful break. There, walk rightwards, along a little road in the middle of the grass and, once got to an isolated mountain hut, walk down on the right along a mule track in the middle of a forest that often satisfies any mushroom hunter. After having crossed the bridge over Rio Val Moena, you find the “Pezo del Gazolin”, a majestic monumental tree. Afterwards, walk across a giant meadow dotted with rocks of the Ice Age, then walk down towards the fantastic waterfall of Cavalese. From there you can go back to Masi along the cycle-pedestrian lane, or from the farm at Salanzada, you can continue towards another area full of mushrooms – take the direction to “Tabià-Val di Moena”, then walk down towards the Waterfall.
Medium difficulty – duration about 2/3 hours.
