Lago di Tesero - Alpe Cermis

15 years of Tour de Ski!

From January 8th to January 10th, Val di Fiemme will host the 15th edition of the Tour de Ski final, the main stage of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup races.

The 2021 edition will be a very different one. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemics and the ongoing restrictions, all the World Cup races in Val di Fiemme will be held behind closed doors. A real shame, because the atmosphere will not be the same without the thousands of fans always present at the Cross-Country Stadium in Lago di Tesero and along the Olimpia III track of Alpe Cermis to cheer the great champions of the Cross-Country World Cup. However, the show will be 100% guaranteed on TV, as the races of the Val di Fiemme Tour de Ski have always been broadcasted live both on RAISport and Eurosport, besides many other important international TVs.

After the traditional Mass Start (10 km women, 15 km men) of Friday 8th January, on Saturday 9th there will be a Sprint again, in classic technique too, where the Italian champion Federico Pellegrino will try to improve his result of 2020. On Sunday 10th January, the legendary Final Climb of Alpe Cermis, in free technique and with mass start, will proclaim the winners of the most watched on TV event of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup season.
The 2020 edition was indeed watched by 198 million viewers, a result that brings Val di Fiemme competitions to be the most watched on TV among the Cross-Country Skiing World Cups. Also considering the live TV data, the Final Climb of Alpe Cermis is at the first place in this particular ranking. An amazing race: 10 km in free technique, of which 3,5 km all uphill, with peaks that touch the 30% slope and a difference in height of 420 meters.

The Tour de Ski has been held every year in Trentino since the founding year on the initiative by Vegard Ulvang and Jürg Capol and will be repeated every year, until 2026, when Val di Fiemme will also be protagonist of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, hosting the Nordic disciplines (cross-country, ski jumping and Nordic combined) in the now world and then Olympic stadiums of Predazzo and Lago di Tesero.
