Val di Fiemme, feel the bark under your feet
In the wood of Bellamonte, there is a sensory path which invites you to take off your shoes and rediscover the contact with the soil, pebbles and wet grass.
Finally free. Finally in the silence of the wood. Finally barefoot.
The sensory path of Val di Fiemme is located in Bellamonte at the end of a walk, along a narrow trail: take off your shoes and feel the ground barefoot, walk on bark, pebbles and wet grass along a path where squirrels and roe deer can be spotted.
The 2,9 km long walk starts from the playground of Bellamonte. The first short and steep part heads quickly into a thick forest. Here the path becomes mostly flat, with a total elevation gain of just 225 meters. After some time walking, you will feel the sensation of being in a fairy tale. Follow the signs on the trees to find your way, along the fitness trail where you will also find some benches. Have a sit and enjoy the stunning views between a spruce and the other.
Continuing, in silence, you may spot roe deer, woodpeckers and squirrels, or even deer if you are lucky enough. Towards the end of this walk you will find the sensory path: as suggested on the information board, walk barefoot and try to close your eyes. While rediscovering the contact with the soil, regain the contact with your body. The sole of the foot stimulated by bark, pebbles and wet grass makes you feel closer to the earth and nature and therefore more relaxed and balanced.
Step after step, find your correct posture, reactivating your blood circulation your feet will get stronger, improving the way you walk. Besides stimulating your feet, also your senses will reawaken. Slowly sounds, odors, colors and details will be more distinct, making it easier to observe life in the wood. Therefore, when heading left on the path taking you back to the mountain lodges and houses of Bellamonte, right before leaving the wood, stop and look around. A small roe deer could be there watching you. To go back to the starting point, you may take the same path or walk down the sidewalk along the main road, enjoying the view on the many pretty houses and ancient mountain huts.
