Dolomiti Ski Jazz
From March 9th to March 17th 2019
Concerts perfect for…skiers. The Dolomiti Ski Jazz festival is a mixture of passions for winter sports, black music and alpine nature.
The day-time concerts of the festival, celebrating its 22nd edition from March 9th to March 17th, will bring their exciting rhythms straight to the ski slopes of Val di Fiemme.
Live music framed by the Dolomites peaks, thrilling rhythms resounding on the snow of the ski slopes. The distinguishing feature of the Dolomiti Ski Jazz festival are the outdoor concerts held every day at lunch time in the mountain huts (all free of charge): the jazz by the quartet of the Russian trumpet player Alex Sipiagin; the quintet by the vibraphonist Mirko Pedrotti, committed to a modern and biting jazz; the quartet by the guitarist Roberto Bindoni and his contrasts between lyricism and roughness; the overwhelming swing-bop by the trumpeter Giampaolo Casati; the Hammonk Sphere Trio that transports the repertoire by Thelonious Monk into an all-groove context of their organ trio; the tribute to one of the greatest solo artists in the jazz history by the quintet Toots Thielemans Tribute; the rock touch by the Lost Boys.
After a great day out skiing, the festival Dolomiti Ski Jazz moves into the valley theaters at night. On the same evening, the guitar player Luca Boscagin will perform solo followed by As Madalenas e Los Ernestos with their pieces of famous Brazilian musicians. Don’t miss the chance to listen to the pianist Luigi Bonafede’s quartet enhanced by the presence of Dawn Mitchell; the trio by Alessandro Lanzoni, Thomas Morgan and Eric McPherson with Pietro Tonolo as special guest; the SOON Trio with the musical ideas by Roberto Soggetti, Giulio Corini and Emanuele Maniscalco; the “Storytellers” of the sax player Simone Alessandrini, one of the best emerging talents of Italian jazz.
