Experience is required for walking on uneven mountain terrain. The route may not be cleared or free of snow. In case of fresh snow, the use of ice crampons is recommended. Pay particular attention to potentially icy sections in freezing conditions.
As you can imagine, the passability of routes in a mountain environment is closely linked to current conditions and depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have changed. Before leaving, check the status of the route by contacting the refuge managers on your route, alpine guides, nature park visitor centers, and tourist offices.
Just before the Rifugio Lago Santo, take the path marked "Roccolo Sauch." Continue descending along the path until the junction with the forest road. Turn right and continue along it. We recommend a stop to discover the curiosities of the "Lagabrun Nature Reserve," a short distance from our walk.
Upon reaching the locality Pozze, choose the left fork and continue on the dirt road. Having reached Passo della Croccola, the destination is near and in five minutes you arrive at the famous "Roccolo del Sauch." It is worth approaching and examining its details with the help of the very comprehensive explanatory panels.
Near the "Herb Garden," continue eastwards. Still on the forest road, after 1.5 km you return to the locality Pozze and from there to the starting point following the same route.
Hiking boots and walking poles, warm winter clothing.
