"Lights and shadows: the Muslims of Italy. The journey and the encounter of two worlds." Presentation of the book by Michele Groppi, lecturer at King's College London.
A mix of journalism and science, "Lights and Shadows" is the result of extensive research on the Italian Islamic community. The themes addressed are extremely hot: racism, integration, the condition of women, second generations and converts, terrorism, radicalization. The quantitative picture that emerges is a complex and contradictory mosaic, made up of both harmonious situations and grotesque episodes. This is the essence of the relationship between Italy and Islam: the journey of two worlds that meet, accept, and repudiate each other, in a mix of love and hate, joy and sadness, lights and shadows.
