An itinerary of great scenic interest. At the summit, hikers will find the statue of the Thinking Christ (Cristo Pensante), sculpted from white Predazzo marble and featuring a crown of thorns made from barbed wire dating back to the Great War. The hike, rewarding both for the beauty of the landscape and the physical effort required, offers a picturesque setting. From the summit of Monte Castellazzo, a spectacular view opens up of the majestic walls of the Pale di San Martino and the entire valley below.

THE 10 RULES FOR HIKERS
Please note that the practicability of the itineraries in a mountain environment is strictly linked to the contingent conditions and is therefore influenced by natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this page may have changed. Before leaving for a tour, make sure the path you will approach is still accessible by contacting the owner of the mountain hut, the alpine guides or the visitor centres of the nature parks, the info offices of the local tourist board.
It is also important to follow good safety practices when tackling a mountain route.
From the car-park just beyond Passo Rolle (1.980 m) take the unsurfaced road leading up, through the meadows, to Capanna Cervino. From here follow the directions for “Trekking del Cristo Pensante” trail, first on a track and then on a mule path. The track becomes a trail (passing through a 50 metre wartime walkway) and then reaches the summit of Monte Castellazzo (2.333 m) with its statue of Cristo Pensante (the Thinking Christ). The summit gives a better perspective of the impressive rock walls of the Pale di San Martino and a wide view of the Lagorai range and Val di Fiemme.
The descent is on the other side of Monte Castellazzo, on a zigzag path that quickly leads to Capanna Cervino and then, along the forest road, to the starting point.
During summer time there is a bus connection from Predazzo to Passo Rolle.
From Predazzo, take the road that leads to Passo Rolle.
