Pleasant hike to Lago di Juribrutto through forests and high-altitude pastures. The highest point of this route offers an exceptional view of the Pale di San Martino and the Focobòn.
This short and easy itinerary develops in a rather remote corner of the Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Natural Park. The pastures dotted with stone pine (cirmolo) offer a pleasant unspoiled corner usually not crowded.
The panorama ranges from the majestic Pale di San Martino to the splendid Val Venegia, extending south to the Lagorai range. Upon reaching the lake, you can admire the Dolomite peaks reflected in its calm waters. Definitely, the name does not do justice to this solitary gem which in the beautiful season is framed by rhododendrons. A picnic on the lakeside helps make this hike simply unique.
THE 10 RULES FOR HIKERS
As you can imagine, the passability of routes in a mountain environment is strictly linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have undergone changes. Before leaving, check the status of the route by contacting the refuge managers along your route, mountain guides, nature park visitor centers, and tourist offices.
The route starts next to Malga Vallazza, located on the road of Passo Valles. The first stretch of the path (trail No. 631) climbs through mixed forest until it emerges into a pasture crossed by the Rio Vallazza. The ascent continues along an old military mule track leading to Lastè di Juribrutto.
Once the saddle is reached, the route continues gently downhill through wide pastures, arriving at a couple of small ponds. To the left of the ponds (on the southern side) there are remains and trenches from the Great War. From here you can admire the Civetta, the Pale di San Martino with the imposing Monte Mùlaz, as well as much of the Lagorai range. The path continues along trail No. 631 until reaching Lago di Juribrutto nestled in a basin.
After a stop, you continue downhill along trail No. 629 that runs alongside the Rio Juribrutto until reaching Malga Juribrutto (an unmanaged structure). From here, the last stretch of the route follows trail No. 623, which, entirely through forest, cuts across the hillside with a slight ascent and returns to Malga Vallazza.
From Cavalese reach Predazzo and then take the SS50 towards Passo Rolle. After Paneveggio follow signs for SP81 towards Passo Valles.
