Route with slight elevation change on paved and dirt roads offering views of the vineyard terraces of the Cembra Valley.
The route allows you to discover a typical village of the Cembra Valley characterized by the square with fountain and historic washhouse and some examples of rural houses with barrel vaults and family cellar.
It develops on part of the ancient Strada della Rosa, the route that pilgrims and travelers once took to reach the village of Ville di Giovo with Castel Giovo from the Adige plain. The noble castle is also called "della Rosa" due to the presence on the watchtower of the coat of arms bearing the engraving of a rose.
The itinerary alternates woods and vineyards with resting points along the way. It reaches the small Church of San Giorgio in the hamlet of Mosana di Giovo, already mentioned as a hermitage place in 1369. Rebuilt in the 15th century, it was a destination of processions to invoke protection over the fields from frost, dew and wrinkles. The polygonal apse preserves two Gothic sandstone windows, while on the southern wall traces of a large frescoed Last Supper are visible. Giambattista Ghezzi of Faedo was the last hermit of San Giorgio. The hermitage was suppressed by the law issued by Joseph II in 1782.

THE 10 RULES FOR HIKERS
As you can imagine, the passability of routes in a mountain environment is closely linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this leaflet may have changed. Before setting out, check the condition of the route by contacting the refuge managers on your route, mountain guides, visitors' centers of natural parks and tourist offices.
The route starts from Palù di Giovo - Sports Hall, crosses the village to reach Alpini Square and takes the road that descends from the fountain and leads out of the village.
Continue along the same road through the woods for about twenty minutes on foot until it opens onto the vineyard terraces, the Avisio River, and the porphyry quarries that characterize the other side of the Cembra Valley. After about fifty meters at the fork, take the road to the Church of San Giorgio, a charming country chapel.
Continue until the dirt road crosses the paved road that leads to the Masi circuit. Take the same road descending until you reach state road 612.
At this point, carefully, you need to walk a short stretch of paved road (about 100 meters) along the roadside towards Mosana di Giovo (entering the Cembra Valley). Soon a paved road will appear on the left that climbs and develops through the cultivated fields.
Take this road and follow the slight elevation change that leads back to the fork for the Church of San Giorgio. Once you reach the fork, follow the route back the way you came.
Suitable with a city stroller.
