This 4-day circular trekking is a very versatile proposal as it allows you to choose between several variants of different difficulty levels. Because of this, it can be tackled by both those approaching multi-day trekking for the first time, and experienced people.
The track on the map shows the most challenging route. The MEDIUM and EASY variants are described in each stage in the FOLLOW DIRECTIONS section.
The itinerary offers a spectacular view of the Lagorai Range and the Pale di San Martino. Throughout the route, there are refuges and refreshment points where you can take a break, eat, and spend the night. The track leads to the discovery of some little-known paths, among alpine ponds and Great War trenches, a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in nature and the history of the Fiemme Valley. After the first two days dedicated to exploring the Alpe Lusia, among walkways marked by a great variety of rocks and porphyry outcrops, with the Dolomites as a backdrop, the third and fourth days literally immerse you in the beauty of the Pale di San Martino, with their towering spires and postcard landscapes. Almost the entire route develops in the area of the Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Natural Park, a protected natural area since 1967.

CHALLENGING ROUTE: from the locality Castelir (Bellamonte) start on the forest road that rises below the cable car line. Upon reaching a fork at 1,685 meters, turn left to reach the Rio Vallaccia. Ignore the paved/cement road and continue left until you reach path no. 660, which is taken up to the right. The path initially ascends through a water-rich environment (evidenced by the particular vegetation) and then through alpine pastures and ancient wooden huts until reaching Rifugio Lusia. (4.7 km - 550 meters ascent - 53 meters descent)

For those with energy and time left, we suggest reaching Cima Viezzena, which offers a 360° view over many Dolomitic peaks and the Lagorai Range. From Rifugio Passo Lusia it is 2.6 km (one way) and 450 meters ascent.
MEDIUM ROUTE: a longer route than the challenging variant, but with a gentler ascent. From the parking lot in locality Castelir, take the forest road behind the El Zirmo restaurant which winds through a sparse forest of larches, Norway spruces, and higher up, Swiss stone pines with some wooden huts. You reach a clearing and then locality Canvere, with beautifully restored wooden huts. From here turn left onto forest road no. 623 which, with a gentle and steady ascent through flowery pastures, leads to Rifugio Lusia. (5.8 km - 500 meters ascent)
