The spruce forests, the suspension bridge, a long but steady climb through the pastures of Alpe di Lusia to reach the pass of the same name and then down to Moena, the fairy of the Dolomites.

From Predazzo we start the ride along the banks of the Travignolo torrent. After passing the climbing crags, we reach the suspension bridge and then the banks of the Fortebuso dam. From Paneveggio begins the climb with comfortable hairpin bends that leads to the Malga Bocche (a short diversions must be made to reach it). The road then leads to Passo Lusia where the descent towards Moena begins, first on a dirt road and then on asphalt. From Moena the convenient cycle path leads back to the starting point.

Safety guidelines

IMPORTANT

Along all routes, always pay attention to other people and vehicles coming from both directions. MTB routes are not for bikers only. After windstorm Vaia in October 2018, forest roads are used also by heavy vehicles to transport wood. When riding on streets, bikers have to respect the traffic code just like drivers.

BIKER’S CODE OF RESPONSIBILITY

  1. Plan your ride
  2. Share the trail with other users
  3. Yield right of way to hikers
  4. Let your speed be determined by your experience
  5. Ride slowly on crowded trails, overtake with politeness and respect
  6. Cycle only on authorized and open trails
  7. Avoid muddy trails in order not to damage them further
  8. Respect nature, plants, animals and the trail
  9. Do not frighten animals
  10. Take your rubbish home with you
  11. Respect public and private property
  12. Always be selfsufficient
  13. Do not cycle solo in remote areas
  14. Take back home only good pics

ALWAYS WEAR YOUR HELMET !

Please note that the practicability of the itineraries in a mountain environment is strictly linked to the contingent conditions and is therefore influenced by natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this page may have changed. Before leaving for a tour, make sure the path you will approach is still accessible by contacting the owner of the mountain hut, the alpine guides or the visitor centres of the nature parks, the info offices of the local tourist board.

Starting point
Predazzo
Directions

From Predazzo, following the course of the Travignolo stream, we first reach Sottosassa with its climbing crags and then cross the suspension bridge. Moving into the forest, we reach the Fortebuso dam and pedal along the shores of this placid lake to then continue on to Paneveggio. A short stretch on asphalt leads to the forest road that, with a succession of hairpin bends, climbs towards Alpe di Lusia. We suggest taking the short diversions (marked on the map) to reach Malga Bocche, an enchanting place with an exceptional panorama of the Pale di San Martino. Turning back for a short distance along the route we have just taken, we then continue along an easy dirt road between beautiful wooden huts until we reach the Lusia Pass. Continue downhill first on a dirt road and then on asphalt until reaching the village of Moena. After crossing the village, take the convenient cycle path back to Predazzo.

We recommend downloading the gpx track of the route and following it on your smartphone.
