THE 10 RULES FOR HIKERS
As you can imagine, the passability of trails in a mountain environment is closely tied to prevailing conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this guide may have changed. Before setting out, check the trail conditions by contacting the managers of the mountain huts along your route, mountain guides, nature park visitor centers, and tourist offices.
This first flat stretch allows you to admire the mountains and the scenery around you, but be sure to watch out for any approaching vehicles or bicycles.
We recommend stopping to look at the famous wooden eye, called “Eye to the Dolomites,” after which the downhill section begins.
After 300 meters, you’ll come to a fork in the road: if you’re in a 4x4 wheelchair, you can take the dirt road to the right to reach Malga Mayrl; if you’re in a standard wheelchair, we recommend continuing on the paved road until you reach Malga Epircher Laner. Along this stretch of the route, on the left, you’ll find a beautiful wooden horse pulling a sled loaded with logs—an old-fashioned way of transporting wood down to the valley.
The final stretch of the road climbs slightly before finally reaching Malga Epircher Laner. After a refreshing break to enjoy traditional local dishes, return to the cable car via the same route you took on the way there
.
A tip: be sure to keep the cable car’s closing times in mind.
