France, 1943. Bruno is a simple soldier of the Royal Army when the armistice catches him by surprise, leaving him and thousands of Italian soldiers alone, abandoned in the face of the consequences of the collapse of the fascist regime and the Italian state.
From that moment on, his life becomes an uncertain journey, marked by the constant search for directions and meanings: family, work, and love. He seems to find a haven as a miner in Belgium. There, he meets Marcella.
Unconventional and passionate, Marcella is a free woman. But in the post-war Trento society, there is no room for those who choose to live outside the mold. In Bruno, she recognizes a companion and a hope. She decides to join him, eager to build a different future together.
An intense and intimate narrative that weaves together stories of migration, resistance, and love, in a time of great change.
