A theater show by and with Beppe Casales
Gaza vive is a narrative theater show that follows the story of a family from Gaza before and after October 7, 2023. The story begins with everyday life, the simple joy of a trip to the sea, and then traverses war, bombings, hunger, and loss, trying to restore faces, relationships, and desires to the people involved.
The work arises from the invitation of Palestinian poet Refaat Alareer to tell stories of loss, survival, and hope as a form of resistance. From the perspective declared by the author, the story of Gaza is placed within a longer history, read through the themes of Israeli Zionism, ethnic cleansing, apartheid, and genocide. However, the heart of the narrative remains life: what continues despite violence, in words, in bonds, in smiles, and in the ability to envision a future.
With direct language and relying on the presence of the actor, Beppe Casales constructs a narrative that intertwines memory, denunciation, and hope. Gaza vive presents itself as an act of love and resistance against indifference, and as an invitation not to reduce a collective tragedy to numbers or images, but to recognize the stories of the people who live it.
