Elena Arvigo, artist and performer of extreme sensitivity among the most intense in the contemporary scene, brings to the stage THE MONOLOGUES OF THE ATOMIC AGE, taken from “Prayer for Chernobyl” by Svetlana Alexievich and from “Tales of the Atomic Age” by Kyoko Hayashi.
Two testimonies that intensely, touchingly, and viscerally highlight different female voices, linked by a strong sense of humanity.
A show paying tribute to two tragic and important pages of History: on August 9, 1945, the atomic bomb is dropped on Nagasaki, and on April 26, 1986, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant explodes. Events that symbolize nuclear devastation explored through the words of Svetlana Alexievich, Nobel Prize for Literature 2015, with her diaries “Prayer for Chernobyl,” and Kyoko Hayashi, a survivor of Nagasaki, with her testimony in “Tales of the Atomic Age.” Voices that speak to us of the grand History by recounting what we only know in part: the impressions, the feelings of people who have faced the unknown.
