Two siblings, Icare and Celie Mercier, lose their parents in a car accident as children. Because of that tragic event, the younger sister develops some psychological issues that prevent her from being fully self-sufficient.
In her room, Celie paints. She splashes the canvas with emotions, using everything she has to bring order to the chaos within her.
After the death of their grandfather, their legal guardian, Icare takes care of his little sister. He works a desk job during the day while Celie stays home with a governess. But Celie does not like the presence of this figure and scares one away after another. Icare no longer knows how to handle the situation until one morning Laurene, a friend and neighbor, shows up, proposing her cousin as the new governess.
The boy, named Malo, has just arrived and is looking for work, but he never finished school and has no skills in any field. He is a peculiar type: he dresses eccentrically, spends his days inventing stories, and making puppets. He has a kind and patient soul. Despite Icare's mistrust, Malo manages to win over Celie's affection – and later her heart – with his unconventional personality. The presence of this new governess allows Icare and Laurene to grow closer, eventually forming a deep emotional bond.
But to truly overcome the pain, it takes to love even the most fragile parts of oneself and to let go of fear. It won't be enough to paint one's days with the usual primary colors to be ready to face the vulnerability that lies within each of us.
