We often talk about pirates, rough and rude men, with hooks, black bands, and wooden legs, but… What about female pirates?!? Did they ever exist? Well, yes! Arabella Drummond, known as “the Terror of the seas,” and Anne Bonney were two very famous female pirates. From this, we took inspiration to create the story of two friends, Arabella and Anna, who, playing in the attic, find a treasure map and, partly by magic and partly by fantasy, find themselves in the middle of the sea, on a ship that will take them straight to the island indicated on the map. Will these two “pirates in skirts” manage to hoist the sails, drop anchor, light the cannon fuse, discover the treasure, and get rich?
What is certain is that, at the end of their adventure, they will realize that true treasures are not made of gold or silver, but… they are loved, can be embraced, and must be cherished and nurtured over time.
