Many nativity scenes fill the streets and the historic centre of Tesero.
In the early Nineties, the life-size nativity scene of Tesero was set up for the first time in a characteristic "court" of the town, that is, one of the typical covered passages found in the historic center, and more generally the twisting alleys and modest irregular squares that open up between the houses in the old part of the town.
Thus, the idea was born to involve the families of Tesero in setting up their traditional nativity scenes in the "courts," allowing everyone to admire them. Since then, during the period from the Feast of the Immaculate Conception to Epiphany, walking through the "courts" transforms into a visit to an open-air exhibition where the most characteristic places, the windows of the cellars, and the most suggestive small squares are adorned with almost a hundred nativity scenes. Following the displays and the luminous decorations, one will find many precious nativity artifacts (see the map on www.presepiditesero.it).
The accessible route of “I Presepi tele Corte" will follow the 12 wooden showcases and the luminous decorations allowing everyone to find the various precious nativity artifacts around Tesero. The town of Tesero, with its houses closely placed together, transforms into a large nativity scene and visitors strolling through the snow-covered cobblestone streets become characters in the scene. Along the route of Via Quattro Novembre, in addition to some new nativity scenes, one can admire the illuminated bell tower and a historical nativity scene inside the church dedicated to the patron saint San Eliseo. The route is freely accessible all day, but evening visits are recommended when the darkness and the relative lighting create an intimate and special atmosphere.
According to the tradition that has been going on for 60 years, the Great Nativity Scene will be set up in Piazza Casere Battisti. The Association Amici del Presepio, which has been managing this setup since 1965, will present a valuable artifact that in past years has also been exhibited in the cities of Naples, L'Aquila, Krakow, Assisi, and Spinea (VE) with the sponsorship of the cultural department of the Province of Trento and the Municipality of Tesero. The Nativity Scene is open for visits every day and remains illuminated until 11:00 p.m.
In addition to the large nativity scene and the route through the historic center discovering the numerous nativity scenes scattered throughout the "courts," there is also an exhibition at the historic Casa Jellici next to the Town Hall.
