A woman on stage. Rather, a doll. Inside her coexist at least three voices: that of the adult trying to be up to par, that of the child who “didn’t apply herself” and that of the mother who always wanted her to be neat. In addition to them, there is an elementary school teacher, a fairy godmother, and the voice of a guilty conscience.
A monologue with multiple voices, ironic and moving, about the life of a woman who has never truly felt in place. Neither at school, nor at home, nor in life. Sensitive without permission, creatively out of time, she grows amid judgments like “She’s smart, but she doesn’t try,” crumpled report cards, and family memories, leading her to an adulthood filled with bills, medical visits, complicated relationships, and dreams put away under lock and key.
When everything breaks, something finally comes together: not because the protagonist is “fixed,” but because she learns to embrace who she is. On stage, Michela Andreozzi thus becomes a life-size doll, a symbol of a standard of perfection to break free from in order to rediscover a crumpled, ironic, and bright authenticity.
Accompanied by the music of Maestro Greggia, she addresses contemporary themes with lightness and intelligence, such as the relationship with oneself, woke culture and pronouns, modern relationships, the rush to judgment on social media, personal memories, and artificial intelligence. What emerges is a comic and sincere story about the freedom to be unsuited, crooked, emotional: “wrong in a good way.”
