Val di Fiemme is preparing for an Olympic-flavoured winter. Between the Cross-Country Centre in Lago di Tesero – where the Nordic skiing competitions will take place – and the Ski Jumping Stadium in Predazzo, set to host the ski jumping and Nordic combined events, the valley becomes one of the most important stages of the Milano Cortina 2026 Games.
These two venues, just a few kilometres apart, represent the sporting heart of the valley and are located along the axis linking Tesero to Predazzo, at the foot of the ski area Latemar Dolomites. It is here that alpine skiing enthusiasts will find perfectly groomed slopes, from November to Easter, winding through Predazzo, Pampeago and Obereggen, with both technical and scenic descents.
In Pampeago, this winter, a new gondola lift will ensure faster and more comfortable connections – a clear sign of the valley’s ongoing commitment to improving its services.
But alpine skiing in Val di Fiemme goes well beyond Latemar. The Fiemme/Obereggen ski area is a top destination in its own right.
With more than 110 km of slopes kept in perfect condition throughout the season, Val di Fiemme offers five different ski areas, all covered by a single ski pass. Skiing here means not only enjoying the snow, but also changing scenery every day, moving from one Dolomite panorama to another.
Alpe Cermis boasts the long and spectacular Olimpia slope, a 7.5 km run descending all the way to Cavalese; Alpe Lusia-Bellamonte is a paradise for families and beginners; Passo Rolle offers natural snow and breathtaking views of the Pale di San Martino; while Passo Lavazè-Oclini guarantees quiet slopes and unspoilt landscapes. Five ski areas, all connected with a single ski pass, for an experience ranging from thrilling adventures to more relaxed days on the snow.
Beyond the slopes, the experience is made unforgettable by the hospitality of alpine lodges, where traditional Trentino dishes and local wines showcase the valley’s culinary heritage. Families will also find dedicated services: each ski area is equipped with children’s clubs and snow play areas, so the youngest can enjoy the mountains in safety and fun.
For decades, the valley has been the homeland of cross-country skiing, earning it the nickname “the Little Norway of the Dolomites”. In addition to the Cross-Country Centre in Lago di Tesero, home to major international competitions, there is Passo Lavazè with more than 80 km of trails winding through forests and high-altitude pastures. Here, gliding on skis becomes a silent, contemplative experience, in perfect harmony with the Dolomite landscape.
For those seeking a slower pace, Val di Fiemme’s snow can also be explored on snowshoes. Groomed trails and winter walks lead through spruce forests, clearings and panoramic balconies. Along the way, mountain huts and dairies welcome hikers with typical dishes and hot drinks, turning every outing into a moment of authentic contact with the mountains.
In Val di Fiemme, winter is an invitation to embrace the outdoors: from Olympic skiing to forest trails, every experience tells the same story of sport, nature and beauty.
