The Marcialonga, one of the most beloved cross-country skiing races in the world, invites you to try part of its exciting course.

The Marcialonga di Fiemme and Fassa trail, a cross-country skiing race included in the prestigious Worldloppet circuit, crosses the entire valley floor alongside the Avisio Stream. Sliding on the course, your eyes glimpse the slow succession of all the villages of Val di Fiemme located on the slopes of the Cornon, the Pala di Santa, and the Corno Nero. Midway through, the trail crosses the Lago di Tesero Nordic Stadium, which has hosted the Nordic World Ski Championships three times and will be one of the “Host Sites” for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.

Starting point
Molina di Fiemme
Directions

Leave the car in the large parking lot at Località Lido, in Molina di Fiemme. Gear up fully and start your skiing on the famous Marcialonga track. For long stretches, the trail runs alongside the Avisio, whose waters weave through stones and jagged ice sheets. A long row of willows covered in sparkling snow frames the stream and catches the eye between slides. Occasionally observing the surrounding natural beauty lightens the effort and nourishes both soul and body.

The stretch from Molina di Fiemme to Predazzo is all on a gentle uphill (about 200 m of positive elevation gain). Mostly the slope is steady but there are some short steep sections at Località Cascata, Masi di Cavalese, Lago di Tesero, Panchià, and Ziano di Fiemme. In these spots, you need to pay extra attention and shorten your stride a bit. The trail, always perfectly groomed, winds through snowy expanses, ancient farms, houses with smoking chimneys, small bridges, and little spruce forests.

When you get near Lago di Tesero, ideally put on the bib for big occasions because you will be skiing on the iridescent snow of the “Fabio Canal” Nordic Stadium. In 2026, cross-country skiing and Nordic combined events of the Milan-Cortina Olympics will take place here. After removing your race number, continue eastward and, after crossing a long plain that leads to the climb to Panchià, a sunny false flat will accompany you first to Ziano di Fiemme and then to Predazzo.

So far you have covered the beautiful 18 km. If tiredness starts “pulling your jacket,” stop, bite into a piece of your favorite bar, turn your ski tips around, and start pushing again, gently downhill, back towards Molina di Fiemme.

But if your legs and breath still want to rack up some more kilometers, continue toward Val di Fassa where, as your first goal, you reach Moena, the Fairy of the Dolomites, and starting point of the Marcialonga www.marcialonga.it. The trail continues up to Canazei with Dolomitic panoramas and enchanting scenery…

However, sooner or later, head back! Remember your car is waiting for you in Molina!
