Loop route in the Parco della Pieve di Cavalese, featuring the church of Santa Maria Assunta, numerous centuries-old linden trees that shade the environment, and the Banco della Reson.

MONTAGNA SENZA LIMITI is a project that offers routes accessible with electric wheelchairs

The Parco della Pieve is the largest park in the Val di Fiemme and hosts trees of different shapes. It is located on top of a small hill that allows you to enjoy a breathtaking view over the Val di Fiemme, the incessant flow of the Avisio stream, and the impressive surrounding mountains. The church of Santa Maria Assunta is the heart of this magical place, characterized by a towering bell tower, making it one of the most appreciated monuments in the area.

CURIOSITY: the Parco della Pieve is rich in very characteristic centuries-old lindens, some of which have completely hollow trunks. The one next to the Banco della Reson is the oldest, over 400 years old.

Safety guidelines

We recommend paying close attention to the terrain and various small obstacles.

The route should be undertaken with an accompanying person.

THE 10 RULES FOR HIKERS

  1. Study and prepare your itinerary well
  2. Choose a route suitable for your physical condition
  3. Bring appropriate clothing and equipment
  4. Check the weather forecast
  5. Starting alone is risky; bring your mobile phone
  6. Leave information about your itinerary and estimated return time
  7. If unsure, do not hesitate to rely on a professional
  8. Pay attention to signs and markings on the route
  9. In case of fatigue or problems, do not hesitate to turn back
  10. In case of accident call 112

As you can imagine, the passability of routes in a mountain environment is closely linked to contingent conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have changed. Before leaving, check the status of the route by contacting the managers of the shelters on your route, mountain guides, visitor centers of natural parks, and tourist offices.

Starting point
Ice Stadium Parking Lot of Cavalese
Directions

From the parking lot of the ski lifts, near the Ice Stadium, follow the sidewalk on Via Cermis. Go up the sidewalk on Via Conti Firmian, after the parking lot turn left and, at the end of the uphill, turn left again. Just before the bridge leading to the bus station, take the path on the right. The compact dirt path is easily accessible with slight ups and downs. Just a few steps away are, almost fused together, the oldest tree in the Park and the Banco della Reson.

Proceed down the dirt road with caution due to some small channels.

Continue along the path ignoring the road on the right. After passing the tennis courts and the bar, go around the small hill, observing the Avisio River below on the left. Proceed at low speed (narrow path width) and keep to the right. Upon reaching the pavement, go down to the left, preferably keeping to the center.

Upon reaching the asphalt, turn left and get onto the dirt road. From there on, the terrain becomes rougher, with larger stones, and should be traversed more carefully.

A curiosity: until 1963 this road was the route of the railway that connected Ora to Predazzo.

After passing through the tunnel (to be crossed with caution, loose gravel, low visibility, and dripping ceiling creating puddles), a view opens over much of the valley. Continue (ignoring the asphalt ramp) until reaching Via Cavazzal. Turn left and take the uphill road keeping to the right (road open to traffic). Upon reaching the Ice Stadium, turn left and return to the parking lot.

How to get there

Reach the town of Cavalese and then head towards the Ice Stadium and the Alpe Cermis cable cars.

Where to park

Large parking lot at the Ice Stadium (one parking space for disabled persons).

Electric wheelchair or 4x4 wheelchair.
