The rediscovery of the rural history of the valley with its “water machines” along the Rio dei Molini between Grumes and Grauno

The Rio dei Molini valley between Grumes and Grauno was once the centre of intense artisanal activity linked to water power: it housed over 20 water machines including mills, sawmills and forges. Today, the Sentiero dei Vecchi Mestieri allows us to rediscover this world, offering unforgettable suggestions of a unique environmental and historical landscape.

The route runs transversally to the Avisio Valley and is divided into two parts: the first part, of historical-ethnographic relevance, is situated along the rio Molino between Grumes and Grauno; the second part, mostly of environmental interest, starts from the new bridge on the Avisio between Grumes and Sover and reaches the settlement of Piscine.

The best way to visit the Sentiero dei Vecchi Mestieri is through a guided tour with a Medium Mountain Guide who can open and show in operation some of the old workshops. Guided tour events can be found on the Rete di Riserve website or on Vivigrumes. A stop to make on the way out or back is at Green Grill-info e sapori, the house of the Rete di Riserve located along SS 612. Here you can taste or buy local products, receive information about the area, admire the valley from the spectacular panoramic terrace. Another stop worth visiting is the organic farm Giove Officinali which can be reached with a very short detour along the route and which cultivates medicinal plants on ancient terraces.
