"The Revenge of Vigil" is a docufilm that restores depth and complexity to one of the most fascinating and unsettling chapters of Fiemme history. A journey into the 16th century, amidst witch trials, superstitions, political tensions, and power dynamics that have left a lasting mark on the life of the valley.
The film, directed by Herman Zadra, is based on a screenplay developed in collaboration with Paolo Cova, author of the book of the same name, and with the aid of other historical sources. The narrative intertwines documentary rigor, evocative atmospheres, and contemporary visual languages. The filming in the environments of the Palace – once the seat of the episcopal court – gives the story a particular intensity, bringing the viewer back to the very locations where the events took place.
It emerges as a work that combines memory and interpretation, history and modern sensitivity, offering a new perspective on events that continue to challenge the present.
