Narciso Delladio, a shoemaker from Tesero, in the 1920s could not have imagined that from his patient work a world-renowned company would arise. Today he would be happy to know that it is still his family that carries on the work.
He made wooden clogs and leather boots for the lumberjacks and farmers of the Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa. His views were certainly not limited. Within him was the seed of today’s entrepreneurial spirit. In 1928 he indeed participated in a trade fair in Milan. In the same year he patented a particular type of lacing that was later used by the most important shoe manufacturers.
The demand for boots continued to grow so much that it pushed him to hire employees to found the Calzoleria Sportiva in the post-war period. Even the name promised well. The fame of this company quickly reached Trento and Bolzano. His son Francesco contributed to the expansion in the 1950s. The new brand LA SPORTIVA was presented at the Milan Fair and then throughout Europe. The collection included winter footwear with bold technical solutions and summer footwear with traditional mountain boots. When Francesco Delladio’s sons, Lorenzo, Luciano, and Marco, joined the company, the desire to stand out and conquer the market took off. In the 1980s, the winning idea arrived: the purple and yellow climbing shoe. This courageous choice kicked off a beloved production that expanded into France. In 1995 the company built the factory in Ziano di Fiemme. “Mirage,” the first climbing shoe to be used for both foot placements and grip, was born. The company continued to grow until it became a joint-stock company. Strategic agreements for distribution in America followed. La Sportiva became a global leader. In 2010, Giulia, a representative of the fourth Delladio generation, took charge of marketing. Thanks to her, turnover continues to grow.

From wooden clogs to carbon ski mountaineering boots. Passing through the success of sportswear lines and innovative running shoes. One success after another, La Sportiva conquers global markets, even through a partnership with Samsung. A partnership is nothing more than “a lacing” and Narciso was a master at this. La Sportiva’s story is an Italian tale of ingenious climbing. With all its toil, but with immense love for nature and movement. Sustainability and well-being are the cornerstones that guide every decision. The attachment to family history and territory are the launching pads for every innovation.
