THE 10 RULES FOR HIKERS
As you can imagine, the passability of routes in a mountain environment is closely linked to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have changed. Before leaving, check the condition of the route by contacting the refuge managers on your route, alpine guides, natural park visitor centers, and tourist offices.
From the parking lot, go back a few meters on the paved road and take the right fork that enters the forest with signs “Roccolo Sauch 0.45”.
Follow the forest road immersed in the deciduous forest, ignoring the fork to Lago Santo. We recommend reading the descriptions on the information board about the “Lagabrun Nature Reserve”, not far from our walk.
Arriving at the Pozze area, choose the left fork and continue on a pleasant road. Upon reaching Passo della Croccola, the destination is near and in five minutes you reach the famous Roccolo del Sauch. It is worth getting closer and examining the details with the help of the well-made explanatory panels. The excursion continues following the signs to the Sauch refuge, about ten minutes away.
Once refreshed at the refuge, resume the main road near the “Herb Garden”, a garden with medicinal herbs, and continue east. Still on a forest road, after 1.5 km you return to the Pozze area and from there to the starting point following the same road back.
Coming from the A22 Brenner motorway, either from south or north, exit at the Trento nord tollbooth (distance from the tollbooth 22.5 km), drive on the S.S. 12 Brenner towards north up to the Lavis junction, then continue on S.S. 612 Lavis - Castello di Fiemme which leads to the Cembra Valley and then to the village of Cembra, then follow signs for Lago Santo.
Continue uphill until you reach a parking lot along the road with coordinates N46°12’00.2 E11°11’40.3 1075 m a.s.l. About 50 meters before the parking lot, clearly visible, starts the forest road to take to begin the route (there is a white and blue sign for the Sauch refuge, a prohibition sign for cars and white and red marking signs).
Sneakers or hiking shoes, waterproof jacket, water, sunscreen.
