A simple walk in the woods from the hamlet of Ponciach to the old Gravoni quarry in Faver
Starting from the grassy basin of Ponciach, the route winds along the southwestern slopes of Monte Castion and after crossing beech and Scots pine woods, ends near a steep flow of fallen porphyry boulders, the Gravoni. Here there used to be a porphyry quarry now abandoned for years. Among the rocks, fragments of iron can sometimes be seen: remains of machinery and trolleys used for transporting processed stone. From here you can admire a beautiful view of the Cembra valley.
The route is short and suitable for an afternoon walk from spring to autumn with a final stop to admire the view while having a snack on a large porphyry boulder.
The route is also well suited for those who want to combine walking with Nordic Walking practice.

Directions
From the parking next to the ponds at the entrance to the hamlet of Ponciach, climb the hill where there is a small church to admire the view of the valley and the peaks of Lagorai. Proceed along the path that runs on this small hill descending from the opposite side to the church. Take the first street on the right going slightly downhill and then the forest road on the left that enters the flat woods, going straight until you reach the Gravoni quarry where the road ends. The return route is the same as the outward journey.
How to get there
For those coming from Trento, follow the SS.612 north towards Faver where, at the entrance to the village, follow the signs for Ponciach, which is 3.5 km away.
For those coming from Val di Fiemme, follow the SS 612 to the village of Faver, pass through the tunnel and at the roundabout return towards the village. At the beginning of the town, follow the signs for Ponciach, which is about 3.5 km away.
