The second stage of a long-distance route (6 recommended stages) to discover the Cembra Valley at a slow pace

The Cammino delle Terre Sospese is a 90 km route that connects villages, hamlets, and farms in the Val di Cembra that seem suspended in time, to meet the genuine identity of this valley far from tourist circuits. Traveling this path, you will cross the valley, moving from the right bank to the left bank, crossing the Avisio stream several times, the undisputed protagonist of this fascinating route. You will discover a richness and diversity of natural and cultural landscapes that will surprise you: districts, faces, and ancient fountains in small villages, terraced vineyards supported by daring dry stone walls, medieval chapels, castles, and historic connecting roads, small farms and old rural houses, mills, forges, sawmills… and then streams and silent woods. The Cammino delle Terre Sospese is not only a physical route but an important community project, promoted by a spontaneous group of volunteers who founded the association Destinazione Val di Cembra ETS to encourage people to meet and discuss more sustainable development of their territory, strengthening the spirit of an active and welcoming community. For this reason, we wish that it will be a route full of meetings and relationships.

Lisignago (Cembra Lisignago)

This is a rather short stage, which with considerable altitude differences will take us, among splendid vineyards and cool woods, to the opposite side of the valley. We leave Lisignago passing through the small gardens near the fire station, and after a short stretch of sidewalk, we carefully cross the ss. 612. Next to a small chapel, we take a road that is first flat and then constantly downhill, among splendid vineyards, leading us to maso Besleri. We climb up again to Cembra, (the valley capital with all services) after crossing it, from the church of San Rocco, we resume the descent, always on a country road with dry stone walls and vines as the main features, thus reaching the Avisio stream, which we cross on a hanging footbridge. On the other bank awaits us a particular and unexpected building, the Pozzolago hydroelectric power station. The ascent continues through woods and fields until Piazzole di Lona, four houses with its chapel, San Giobbe. Continuing, in a short time we reach a picnic area on the SP 71, cross it with great caution and shortly after take a flat path on the left towards Segonzano, this is a short piece of trail that we will retrace on the way back.

Arriving at the Sevignano fountain, we take a right uphill road that allows us to pass the village from above with a splendid view of the valley. We resume our path on a flat stretch towards the fields of Prada and the woods of the Pomara valley with beautiful views of the Earth Pyramids of Segonzano. After crossing the Regnana stream, we take the dirt path on the right of the stream up to the Pyramid kiosk (refreshments in season; stamps and info at the ticket point). The section of the route coinciding with the Pyramid path requires a fee (3 euros), but it is free for walkers with a credential. Steep ascent on the path to the left of the stream up to the short detour that will lead us to the splendid viewpoint over the pyramids, from there, returning the same way, in a short time and on flat ground we reach the church of Segonzano.
