Where there was once only snow, there is now an easy route suitable for everyone, extremely panoramic, that allows you to reach the summit of Alpe Cermis on foot, with snowshoes, or, uphill only, with ski mountaineering skis.
Alpe Cermis offers a new route starting from Villaggio Cermis, at 2,000 meters, among multiple wooden houses with pointed roofs. The route leads into silence, away from the cheerful chatter of skiers and close to nature. Gaining altitude, the view opens grandly toward the most beautiful peaks of the Fiemme valley and surroundings: Latemar, Catinaccio, the unmistakable silhouette of Pale di San Martino, and Sella. The arrival is in loc. Paion del Cermis, 2,200 meters, a natural terrace with a 360° view. Here the panorama is immediately Instagrammable: Marmolada, Cevedale, Sassolungo join the list of the top peaks surrounding this wonderful place. But these are not the only ones! You have the pleasure of discovering them all, thanks to the observation point "Panoramio 360°," a panel that allows identification and naming of the wonders filling the view. The return can be along the same route, or you can use the chairlift. Certainly not before stopping at the Paion refuge, attentive to offering a zero-kilometer traditional menu!

Experience in walking on uneven mountain terrain is required. The route may not be beaten or cleared of snow. In case of fresh snow, the use of ice crampons is recommended. Pay particular attention to potentially icy sections in freezing conditions.
As you can imagine, the passability of routes in a mountain environment is strictly tied to current conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes, and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have been subject to change. Before setting out, get information about the state of the route by contacting the refuge manager on your route, alpine guides, visitor centers of natural parks, and tourist offices.
The start of the route is located above the two cable cars that take you from Cavalese up to 2,000 meters: the Cavalese - Doss dei Laresi cable car and the Doss dei Laresi - loc. Cermis cable car. The trip takes about 20 minutes, after which, once at the start, you leave the ski lifts behind and continue on foot. To enter the route, it is necessary to cross the "Villaggio del Cermis," a series of very charming private small chalets. Heading towards the summit of Cermis, the snow-loaded stone pines protecting the village thin out, giving way to low shrubs and the view: the forest opens like a window towards the eastern part of the Fiemme valley, all the way to the Marmolada. But the higher you go, the panorama becomes 360 degrees, embracing a total of 11 Dolomite groups: Brenta, Latemar, Catinaccio, Sassolungo, Sella, Marmolada, Cristallo, Antelao, Pelmo, Civetta, Pale di S.Martino. The walk presents no particular difficulties. After a steeper stretch of terrain, you go up parallel to the ski slope until you reach the 2,200 meters of Paion del Cermis. A few steps from the refuge there is the observation point for peaks and mountain groups "Panoramio 360°."
The return can be on foot along the same route or by the Lagorai chairlift, which returns to loc. Cermis.
The descent to the valley is again via cable car.
Cavalese is reachable from all the villages in the valley by skibus.
Head towards Cavalese and then follow the signs for Funivie Alpe Cermis.
Numerous parking lots at the base of the lifts.
Hiking boots, trekking poles, and warm winter clothing.
