We will walk along a path that encapsulates a millennia-old history in just a few kilometers, the wild nature protected by the Avisio stream, and the spectacle of the terraced landscape of the valley.
We will meet in Segonzano and, starting from the hamlet of Scancio, we will descend to the charming hamlet of Saletto, continuing through the countryside until we reach the ruins of the Castle of Segonzano, located on a rocky height overlooking the historic bridge of Cantilaga. We will proceed to the small settlement of Prà, where the Folgheràiter Mill once stood, and will reach a spectacular rocky gorge where the Avisio stream has formed a bend of calm water, a natural pool with beautiful blue-green colors. We will then ascend through beech and oak forests until we reach the hamlet of Teaio, situated on a promontory with a wonderful view of the terraced vineyards, before finally returning to Scancio.
Walking with us will be Enrico Maria Milič, an anthropologist, journalist, and writer from Trieste, with an interest in stories and storytelling. Responsible for the communication of Slow Food Travel – Slow Food Italy, for over fifteen years he has been concerned with the countryside and the food that is a product of care and attention, promoting a revolution in tourism that starts from food. With him, we will chat about slow and rural tourism, a tourism respectful of the territories where local communities are the guardians and spokespersons, and we will reflect on how the countryside can be “a place of sentimental resistance where we rediscover and take care of ourselves and who we are, and educate ourselves to nature and others.” With a glass of wine and some snacks, we will also get to know his book “The Inn on the Margins of Europe,” a story of borders and resistance where good, clean, and fair food is the protagonist.
The initiative is promoted in collaboration with Slow Food Trentino Alto Adige and Bottega Errante Edizioni.
