Exhibition set up on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the opening of the Southern Tyrol war front.
The exhibition offers an intense and human reading of the First World War, providing not a historical reconstruction of the conflict, but the point of view of the Trentino population who experienced it directly. Through photographs and excerpts from personal diaries, the exhibition pathway gives voice to the feelings and experiences of ordinary people.
The images portray faces of women, boys – often as tall as their rifles – and elderly soldiers, the fifty-year-olds of the time. In those gazes, the curators remind us, “there is our identity as families and communities”.
The exhibition is organized by: Municipality of Cavalese; Cultural Association "Risveglio Tirolese", Federation of Schützen of Welschtirol - WSB, the Michael Gaismaye Circle of Trento.
