Trekking through the silent woods and the precious reserves of the Upper Val di Cembra and the Monte Corno Natural Park. An immersion in an environment still intact and waiting to be discovered.
The proposed walk leads you to discover something particular, unusual. You will not encounter rock towers or untouched peaks, but something smaller and perhaps less showy, yet just as precious. You will always be surrounded by the forests that separate the Adige valley from the Val di Cembra; an area straddling two worlds already in Roman times. You will meet witnesses of the past and present of this mountain, foremost among them the peat bogs, ancient lakes of glacial origin where peat progressively reduced the surface of the water, creating an environment incredibly favorable to biodiversity. Additionally, there are bird traps, mills, and boundary stones that tell forgotten stories. At the end of the day, you will find the warmth of the hut or alpine farm: a bowl of soup and a glass of wine will joyfully help to remember the day’s events and to dream about the next stage.
Itinerary designed and created by Sviluppo Turistico Grumes in collaboration with the Valle di Cembra - Avisio Reserve Network, the Monte Corno Natural Park, tourism promotion bodies, and many private operators.

STAGE 2 (From Rifugio Potzmauer to Rifugio Malga Monte Corno)
From the hut, ascend to Passo Potzmauer and follow the signs for Lac del Vedes (1,496 m). The path skirts the reserve, then reaches, on a dirt road, the mountain huts and the Valdonega crossroads. Follow the paved road uphill toward Doss da l'Ors. At the fork, turning left, in two minutes you reach a panoramic spot with a mountain hut. Continuing on the same road through a fir forest, you reach another fork where you continue right. After a short stretch, the path on the right leads back to the main road, then reaches a basin (Monte dell'Orso) in a few minutes. Follow the Cauria sign until wooden signposts indicate the way to Lago Bianco, reachable in about an hour. From Valdonega, it is also possible to detour toward Paluda La Lot by following the “Border Path” towards Cauria. Continuing then towards Cauria, you reconnect with the original route. At Lago Bianco, take the forest road on the left and skirt the marsh. Then continue with a slight ascent, following the signs for Lago Nero. Upon reaching the lake, proceed toward Rifugio Malga Monte Corno, which is reached in about half an hour.
