Incontro con Elia Milani

The library hosts the journalist and Mediaset correspondent Elia Milani to present his book, "Voices from the Border. Eight Years of Stories Between Israelis and Palestinians."

In a conflict that is constantly in the news, why is this testimony different and necessary? "Voices from the Border" answers this question by moving away from traditional reporting. Elia Milani, with his eight years of experience in Jerusalem, combines the attentive gaze of a journalist with a more personal narrative, in which his testimony intertwines with that of those who have always lived in the Middle East.
Milani enriches the report by intertwining news with his direct experience, from the unexpected challenges of finding a home in Jerusalem to the bureaucratic frustrations of obtaining permits for Gaza, offering the reader a perspective lived from within.
This approach provides an "authentic snapshot" that conveys "the sense of a territory where peace is still a path to be built," one step at a time, through an understanding of the lives that inhabit it. The pages of the book thus become a window onto a humanity that resists and surprises, told through its most authentic voices.
These stories, and many others, compose the central thesis of the book: even in the heart of one of the most told conflicts in the world, there exists a "stubborn and surprising humanity" that transcends the news facts and imposed divisions. It is to this humanity that Elia Milani gives voice, becoming both witness and narrator.
The strength of "Voices from the Border" lies in the credibility of its author, whose authority derives not only from his role as a correspondent, but from a deep academic and human journey that has allowed him to grasp the complex cultural nuances of the Middle East.

The meeting on November 15 represents a privileged opportunity to hear his direct testimony and to engage in dialogue with those who have lived and narrated the border from within.

For those who wish to purchase copies of the book and have them signed, it will be possible to do so directly at La Stazione thanks to the collaboration with the new bookstore Capitolo 3 in Predazzo.

Participation is free and open to all. The event represents an important opportunity for deepening and dialogue.
