The Earth Pyramids of Segonzano are a masterpiece of nature: towers, ridges, spires arranged like organ pipes, tall columns topped by a porphyry boulder.
They are located in the Municipality of Segonzano, in the Cembra Valley. A unique geological phenomenon in Trentino and rare in the world.
Remnants of a morainic deposit dating back to the last glaciation, the Pyramids are now a tourist attraction of high educational value. The site is open to visitors year-round through a specially equipped and well-marked trail.
The classic shape of a pyramid is that of a truncated cone topped by a boulder.
Next to this, you can observe pointed pyramids with conical stems and lacking the protective boulder: they are generally not very tall, which demonstrates rapid evolution.
Another typical shape is that of a crest, consisting of a serrated and sharp strip of land, whose formation is due to the thinning of the watershed, situated between two gullies.
Sometimes the pyramids are grouped into "organ pipes".
To visit the Pyramids, you can choose between the short trail A panoramic terrace on the earth pyramids (1.7 km, 50 min, easy) and the longer one The trail of the Pyramids of Segonzano (3.9 km, 2h30, easy). The trail Val di Cembra coast to coast (13.1 km, 4h30, medium) and Trail of Segonzano (13.9 km, 5h, medium) will instead allow you to reach some of the best destinations in the valley, crossing from one bank of the Avisio to the other.
Rates from May 1 to October 31 2026 (during the remaining period the visit is free of charge):
- Full: € 3.00
- Reduced: € 2.00 (groups of at least 20 paying visitors; adults over 65 years of age)
- Reduced for youth and school groups: € 1.00 (school groups; children/youth from 6 years old up to 14 years old)
- Free: residents of the Municipality of Segonzano; children up to 6 years old; persons with disabilities; companions of school groups/tourist guides and local guides; holders of the Trentino Guest Card and Fiemme Cembra Card)
