Val di Cembra and Val di Fiemme are hosting the "DOLO-VINI-MITI: the Festival of Vertical Wines," a food and wine festival dedicated to high-altitude wines and mountain products. The event is a tribute to the heroic, and therefore vertical, viticulture that characterizes the area, which has also been awarded the title of Historic Rural Landscape of Italy.
Verticality is indeed the main characteristic of these wines, with minerality and sapidity dominating the taste perception. Vertical is the chance to taste the longevity of a wine that evolves and changes over time, enhancing renewed sensations. Vertical is the production territory of Val di Cembra, made of steep slopes, 708 km of dry stone walls now Unesco Intangible Heritage for the art of construction, and a difference in altitude of more than 700 meters with the characteristic vineyards that gradually rise from the Avisio stream to the peaks of the valley drawing the landscape.
And it is the theme of verticality that will be the common thread among the different experiences that make up this festival: from the Wine Trekking Gourmet, the food and wine tour among the lodges and vineyards of the valley, to the Caneve en Festa, an itinerant tasting itinerary along the characteristic caneve of the village, from vertical tastings of Trentodoc, Muller, Riesling and Pinot Noir with local wineries, to guided treks to discover the valley's iconic sites, the evocative vine-clad ups and downs, the rosy hues of the porphyry landscape, the foliage of the forest with its warm autumn colors, the power of water that has shaped the iconic Earth Pyramids over time, and the artistic jewels of the 15th-century parish churches set in the landscape.
For this big event, moreover, local wineries will open their doors to tourists, visitors and wine lovers invited to discover the places of production and taste in the company of local products, sharing narratives and stories of life in the countryside at the end of the grape harvest.
